 Rupert

In the Summer of 2023, before I joined HCA, my younger sister and I decided to create a stop-frame animation following a character called 'Rupert', who was baking in his house.
This was the first time I'd properly tried to make a stop-frame animation, and I had so much fun.
We designed Rupert's character and built the little set for him using a folded piece of cardboard for the walls, and Sylvanian furniture.
Using Cosclay, we made Rupert's figure, and made sure not to fire it so that he'd stay malleable and therefore adaptable. This meant, however, that after a while of shooting and readjusting, his face became quite squished and unrecognisable.
After hours of editing the images together, we finally began recording the audio in time to the video.
We collected a selection of objects to hit and play with to try and make the noises we wanted.
A week or so later, we began making a second 'Rupert', with a new clay figurine (following the same design), since the original ended up disfigured...
We ended up having three separate sections to the video after editing, and didn't create an audio for it like the first.
We both, in the end, preferred our first 'Rupert'.

The original Rupert (before disfiguration)

The final Rupert(post disfiguration)

The first 'Rupert'.

The second 'Rupert' (in three consecutive parts).
